Clams Casino

Another excellent release on Tri Angle records this time from 23 year old Clams Casino with an e.p titled Rainforest is available now. His debut e.p Instrumentals is due to be re-released soon and with mixtapes for Lil B and Soulja Boy under his belt this boy is gonna be big. Keep em peeled.

Beastieography

I recently came across a documentary I used to watch over and over again when I was a kid on the Beastie Boys. It covers their carer from their early punk rocker days right up until the release of their 1998 album Hello Nasty. Enjoy!

Hatemix

Last year I started picking up some white labels with no details about the artist or group just Hate printed on the outer sleeve. All I could find on Hate is he/she/they are associated to the excellent Manchester label Modern Love. The tunes themselves are are quality early/mid nineties old school breaks and jungle tunes. If you come across them bag em! Blow is a recent Hate mix that showcases the sounds that appear and inspired the Hate label.

Jackson

It's been a while since I listened to this dude but Jackson is one guy who deserves a lot more props than he gets. His debut album Smash on Warp Records is amazing and was a big inspiration on the making of the first Justice album.I gave it a blast for the first time in a long time and fell in love with it all over again. Your record collection is not complete without this album.

Free Press and Curl

It's nice to come across some new fresh hip hop and Shabazz Palaces are doing some seriously great tunes. Signed to Sub Pop the original home of Nirvana, Shabazz Palaces Black Up album is probably the best hip hop album you will hear all year. The standout track for myself is Free Press and Curl. Check it below.

Aqua Box

Sick new e.p from Jam City titled Waterworx out now on the wicked Night Slugs label. Aqua Box is one on the finest tunes of the year so far.

Ambient Selections

John Beltran has released a best of titled Ambient Selections recently showcasing some of his ace tracks he has released since the early/mid 90s. This man is one of my all time favorite artists. If you like the early works of Orbital or Aphew Twin you will love this guy.

Slow Motion

It took me a while to get into Animal Collective but once I gave them a blast I was hooked. Their front man Panda Bear has some wicked solo albums too. Check out an interview with the man himself and the video for his track Slow Motion from his excellent Tomboy album below.

Closer

Listening to the return of Mary Anne Hobbs to our airwaves she played this lovely little tune from Photek titled Closer. It's out next week on DJ Pinch's Tectonic label this one is an essential purchase.

TEN RAGAS TO A DISCO BEAT

A really interesting record I discovered last year was Charanjit Singh's Ten Ragas To A Disco Beat. It's a collection of techno made in India from 1982! It was originally wrote as a disco album which pre-dated the first ever acid house record. If you ever stumble across it buy it!
