Beastieography

I recently came across a documentary I used to watch over and over again when I was a kid on the Beastie Boys. It covers their carer from their early punk rocker days right up until the release of their 1998 album Hello Nasty. Enjoy!

Satin Panthers

One of the best producers on the planet today Hudson Mohawke returns with a new 5 track e.p on Warp Records titled Satin Panthers and it sounds ace. Check out the preview below. The whole e.p can be picked up on the first of August.

Free Press and Curl

It's nice to come across some new fresh hip hop and Shabazz Palaces are doing some seriously great tunes. Signed to Sub Pop the original home of Nirvana, Shabazz Palaces Black Up album is probably the best hip hop album you will hear all year. The standout track for myself is Free Press and Curl. Check it below.

War

Well possibly one of the coolest bands on the planet are playing in Dublin this evening The Hypnotic Brass Ensemble. The 9 piece band from Chicago who are signed to Damon Albarn's Honest John Label they dropped this piece of genius in 2006. Ladies and Gents get your air trumpets out for War.

Tea Leaf Dancers

Today's tuneage comes from my favorite hip hop artist at the moment Flying Lotus. His broken beat experimental hip hop has been one of the most refreshing and exciting sounds I have heard in a long time. Signed to both Warp and Hyperdub today's track"Tea Leaf Dancers" comes from his Reset e.p . This is a guy who is only 26 years of age and I think he is yet to give us the best of his work and is my opinion up there with greats like Dj Shadow, Dr Dre, J Dilla and Madlib.

The Grey Album

On the eve of The Beatles releasing their entire back catalogue remastered and ready for its first digital release I've decided to write today's blog about the album that got me into The Beatles. Created in 2004 when Jay-Z released his so called curtain call
The Black album DJ Danger Mouse took it upon himself to take Jay-Zs vocals and and chop up The Beatles White album to create one of the best mash ups ever created the Grey album. Check it out below!

Donuts

I don't know were to start when I talk about this record. The Detroit born J Dilla or Jay Dee released this amazing piece of work on his 32nd birthday Feb 7th 2006 , 3 days before he tragically passed away in his mothers arms of an incurable blood disease.Dilla is one of the greatest producers ever having worked with Del la Soul, Common, Busta Rhymes, Q-Tip to name a few. Donuts to me is quite possibly one of the best hip hop albums ever made. A complete instrumental album it samples and loops through an hour of absolute gold . Click on the below link to sample some quality donuts.
