Taze

Il start by saying that Im a really big fan of Egyptrixx. I think he's someone that blurs the lines between genres and styles with both his dj sets and his own productions. This year is set to be a big one for him too with a release on Night Slugs and hopefully for us, some more tour dates this side of the pond. If he does venture over this side of the world this year then Id imagine he'l be performing his live show that he debuted in his home town of Toronto earlier in the month. Below is a taster of what to expect.

Bright Beginnings

New year and Im going to kick it off with a mix from new outfit C.R.S.T. Its a side project from the boys that brought you Chesus & Rodski and some of their fellow mates and Dj's and they'v certainly set out a strong agenda for the coming 12 months with a mix consisting purely of their own tracks and remixes. If your into UK Garage then youl love this.

Deep Freeze

One artist that has consistently delivered quality and varied releases is
Debruit. His Spation Temporel ep drops in January and I would highly recommend picking it up as soon as you can. Posting my favourite track from the ep today.

Friday

Broken Walls

I cant remember an artist recently that Iv looked forward to their next release. The new ep on Hemlock comes from label boss
Untold and I must say, I like nearly every track off it. Hes someone thats been attracting a lot of hype lately but he is certainly coming good on it.

Thursday

Rightfully So

More big things from Selusiasis this time with label co founder
Starkey stepping up to the plate. Hes a name that will be familiar to most with remix credits for the likes of Radioactive Man, releases on Planet Mu and even an appearance on Mary Ann Hobbs last compilation where his track Gutter Music stood shoulder to shoulder beside additions from Untold Brackles and Nosaj Thing. Id say Starkvillain is a cross between R&B Garage and Funky, the vocal has really grown on me and its a track that im finding myself listening to over and over again since I got it in the mail. The 4 track release also features 2 more tracks from the upcoming Streetbass Anthems 4 comp and you can get it here.

Tuesday

Glens Falls

Another solid release from Wide Records. This one see's Pirate Soundsystem in typical form, wobbly basslines, cut up vocals and heavy on the rave samples. I would highly recommend all 3 original tracks but the pick of the bunch for me is the Chrissy Murderbot remix of Rush Around which you can get here. Forthcoming on Wide is an ep from Berlin native Doshy thats full of bass goodness, that one drops next week.

Saturday

Hope In A Wall

I don't know what to make of acts that just pop up,put out some quality stuff then disappear just as quick. Whether you think that a small back catalogue adds to the mystique or just when they stopped before they over-stayed their welcome. France Copland are an act I really wished would have put out more of the same before deciding to hang up the boots. 2002's Pute & Mac white label was followed with the 2006 release of The Great French Institute Swindle on Omerta. Since then, not a peep. The track below is a rework of NWA's Dopeman, really love this track. You'l excuse the quality of the vinyl rip, just played it out that much its down to the bones.

Friday

Chartreuse

Chrissy Murderbot has just released an ep on the ever brilliant Wide Records. Stand out track for me is below but I would highly recommend buying the whole ep to anyone with more than a passing interest in well produced club tracks. Also looking forward to hearing the Dj Guy remix of thighs which is forthcoming on Wide.

Also, lots of great mixes by Kwissy available for download on his
website and various Bass goodness from Wide

Trip To My Soul

Music is cyclic. Trends come just as fast as others go but at the end of the day quality always stands the test of time. There will always be innovators and inevitably there will be those who try to copy them. When I first started getting into breaks it was through compilation cd's available at the height of its popularity, but, it was only through delving a little deeper that I found what I really liked. My early vinyl collection was made up mostly of Tipper and Si Begg records, Rotters Golf Club and Fuel releases sprinkled with obscure white labels. Those days are long gone but I cant help but feel that the impression left by this music is still around today. Listening back to some of this stuff recently, its head and shoulders above any of the current crop of blog superstars productions around at the moment, and, unlike them, has its own quite unique identity.
